Recently I stumbled across a funny blog post stating “7 reasons why Microsoft is doomed”.
Besides the fact that all of the reasons given in Rea Maors’ post are pretty much made up and do not stand further investigation, I specifically liked the following statement he made:
“People are hating on Vista – yet they’re still buying it in droves”.
Who cares what the average blogger thinks when Vista has already over taken Apple’s Tiger OS and every known distribution of Linux as the world’s 2nd most popular operating system. Vista is second only to Windows XP in market share and it has only been on the market for 6 months.
In my business life from time to time I get drawn into discussions as to how bad Microsoft’s Windows Vista is accepted by the market, etc. etc. It’s interesting to see how self-called IT Pros develop a habit of claiming stuff like this just to make a statement and without even trying to do some research on the real numbers.
Even though I have not been aware that Vista already made it to the world’s 2nd most popular operating system before I thought about commenting on Maor’s post, I was please to find out that Microsoft obviously did a great job – again.
