Microsoft has just released the long awaited Windows Vista Pre-SP1 Performance and Reliability update, addressing tons of issues with the initial release of Windows Vista (including the “Explorer slow file copy” problem).

+++ Updated +++

My first impression is a good one: My Windows Vista Ultimate running on a Toshiba Tecra S4 which is lablled as “Vista capable” is way more responsive since I installed the updates. The update process took less than 10 minutes including two reboots.

File copy operations have doubled in speed in my personal perception. I do not experience any “not responding” issues anymore.
