Starting Saturday, September 27th I'm going to enjoy two weeks vacation with my family in North Africa. The past couple of weeks have been extremely exciting! There's lots of stuff going on and I'm specifically intrigued by what's going on in the iPhone application space. We've just kicked of the development of a multi-user networked entertainment application which I can't wait to get out as a public beta. While I'm in Africa I'm very likely not going to post anything. I do, however, receive emails. If you've got an interesting idea or want to get in touch just drop me an email...

As outlined in a previous post we've released a location based cab finder for the iPhone which features a full offline database containing cab companies for all major German cities about a week ago. Since then we've enjoyed an impressive and increasing number of daily sales, very positive reviews and even direct feedback from customers. Quite coincidentally Google has announced the winners of the Android challenge: cab4me! Reading the description of the service it's almost identical with what we've built for the iPhone: “cab4me enables you to easily call a cab to any location worldwide. You do not need to...

Tonight at 1:42 am German time we've received the email from Apple: So it took some four days from submittal to approval for our application. It is still not available in the App Store but this is standard procedure. It seems as if Apple batch uploads to the Store once every 24 hours so once your app got approved it'll be available after the next upload session. App Store, iPhone, iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone SDK

A few days ago we've sent the first release of one of our iPhone applications to Apple for review: (Due to the terms & conditions of Apple's NDA we are not allowed to disclose any details regarding the app prior to its availability through the App Store...) I've got to admit that it's quite an intriguing feeling once you have finished all the steps to finally submit Version 1.0 to Apple's App Store and wait for it to appear on millions of iPhones. Apple agrees to no service levels as to how long their review might take. Other iPhone devs have experienced...

I've been asked by some folks with a .NET background how I've jump started my iPhone development journey. Well, first of all, if you're new to programing for the Mac and have a .NET/Visual Studio background, be warned: EVERYTHING IS DIFFERENT. And with "different" I mean VERY different. :-) The same applies if you're background is a Java/Eclipse one. It took a while for me to get a hold of Apple's paradigms when it comes to application architecture and how things integrate into each others. One of my biggest difficulties was to really grasp how stuff you...

(Apologies for the somewhat wired post title - it'll all make sense later and I wanted to get it listed by Google in case you're experiencing the issues discussed here.) November 14th update: I've just published even more details about mobile provisioning here. I've started this post quite a while ago but never really finished it. Last night one of my colleagues ran into a mysterious PreflightingApplication error when trying to deploy an application from Xcode to the iPhone. We finally solved the problem by setting him up completely new and while so doing I again noticed that some of the instructions Apple...

Yuppie, today I've received confirmation that my iPhone application passed QC and will be available via Apple App Store once it's going to open its doors on June, 27th. I've not participated in TechCrunch's Top 50 contest, though, but hope to get loads of downloads - equals purchases :-) - without it. Unfortunately, I cannot talk about what my app actually is/does, yet. Just a few words: It's a location based service which works in tandem with a community web site. I'll keep you posted. After quite some time in Apple's queue I have now been granted the right to officially develop iPhone applications and use Apple's distribution channels to share them with iPhone users: I'm trying to set up the certificate stuff tonight and keep you posted.     Tags: iphone sdk, iphone, apple
