The folks at Apple have just finished their review of the fully reworked TAXIRUF version 2.0. The application is about to hit the App Store within a few hours now.
As usual you'll find all the (German) details here. If you want to grab a copy for your iPhone please follow this link.

Yesterday we've released the updated version 1.1 of Taxiruf for the iPhone. Today it entered the Top 10 sold applications in App Store and less than two weeks after the initial release now ranges on rank 10.
Mac Life recommends Taxiruf as one of the must have applications for your iPhone. Besides the joy of having the leading German Apple mag recommending our solution we are also extremely pleased by the fact that Mac Life considers our technical support services as outstanding.
We are continuing to invest into completing the database which ships with the application in order to also cover smaller...
(Updated) I'm posting this entry form North Africa so it'll be very brief:
Our iPhone cab finder application for Germany hit the Top 50 Top 20 sold apps yesterday and made it to number 37 18 today!
It now ranges before Trism, Enigmo and Koi Pond - all of which are quite popular apps for the iPhone! Thanks to all of our customers and keep telling your friends about it.
TAXIRUF can be found on iTunes App Store and at http://tinyurl.com/taxiruf.
A word about customer feedback: Some customers have emailed us about missing entries for their cities. We...
I thought my vacation announcement would have been my last post for the next two weeks but I just stumbled upon a great AppleInsider comparison which I had to share. It's a good read for those who thought the Android G1 might hurt iPhone distribution.

Starting Saturday, September 27th I'm going to enjoy two weeks vacation with my family in North Africa.
The past couple of weeks have been extremely exciting! There's lots of stuff going on and I'm specifically intrigued by what's going on in the iPhone application space. We've just kicked of the development of a multi-user networked entertainment application which I can't wait to get out as a public beta.
While I'm in Africa I'm very likely not going to post anything. I do, however, receive emails. If you've got an interesting idea or want to get in touch just drop me an email...
Submitted to Apple on September 17th it has only taken some five days through review and approval until TAXIRUF hit the App Store!
TAXIRUF is a genuinely simple and straight forward application: It solves the problem of being in a foreign city maybe not even knowing where exactly you are and being in need of a cab.
Right after starting TAXIRUF it offers to locate you (either through cell phone towers on a first generation iPhone or leveraging the GPS capabilities of the iPhone 3G) and immediately offers you to call the local cab company.
While this might seem like just another what's-near-me...
Tonight at 1:42 am German time we've received the email from Apple:
So it took some four days from submittal to approval for our application. It is still not available in the App Store but this is standard procedure. It seems as if Apple batch uploads to the Store once every 24 hours so once your app got approved it'll be available after the next upload session.

I couldn't resist: Recently I added an iPhone 3G to my increasing list of Apple devices I own and fall in love with. My "old" 1st generation iPhone now solely serves as a development and test device for the development activities which continue to grow very successfully.
I've purchased my iPhone 3G in Italy for some 400,00 Euros. Italy is one of those European countries where Net- and Simlocks are prohibited by law. Therefore they ship Apple iPhones which require no crack, no unlock and no jailbreak but still work with all carriers and providers world wide. So I could activate...
A few days ago we've sent the first release of one of our iPhone applications to Apple for review:
(Due to the terms & conditions of Apple's NDA we are not allowed to disclose any details regarding the app prior to its availability through the App Store...)
I've got to admit that it's quite an intriguing feeling once you have finished all the steps to finally submit Version 1.0 to Apple's App Store and wait for it to appear on millions of iPhones. Apple agrees to no service levels as to how long their review might take. Other iPhone devs have experienced...
I hope you've recognized the question mark at the end of this post's title! A recent post on Dev Team's blog says "... but be prepared for some stuff from us today that is cool." So very likely will we see an updated version of PwnageTool that handles iTunes 8.0 modified ISPW detection AND firmware 2.1. I'll keep you posted and - as always - will walk you through the process of upgrading while I'm updating my devices. Tags: pwnage, iphone, iphone 3g,jailbreak,unlock,activate
I've just updated my first generation iPhone to the new Apple firmware version 2.1 available since a couple of hours. The specifics: I've used a first generation iPhone. The device has previously been pwned and was running firmware version 2.0.2. The unlock, jailbreak and activation has been done via PwnageTool 2.0.3.1. I'm running the device on Germany's Vodafone network (which offers a true flat for data and voice, as opposed to T-Mobile the official iPhone reseller over here...). I've used iTunes 8.0 on an...
So the long awaited iPhone firmware version 2.1 will be distributed this Friday (12/09). Dev Team is expected to have an updated version of PwnageTool available this weekend, too. I keep you posted. Tags: iphone, iphone 3g,pwnage,jailbreak,devteam
The Dev Team has released QuickPwn for Mac OS X. Here is the preferred and official torrent link and here is my local little mirror (23 MB download). Follow their post to get the full story.

The Dev Team has just released the updated PwnageTool 2.0.3.1. This version is supposed to fix all of the recent permission related issues and some other minor problems. I'm giving it a try right away and keep you posted. Here is the direct link from the Dev Team blog. Here's my mirror. Please try the official link first and do only use my mirror in case Dev Team's servers experience bottlenecks. The update also comes through Sparkle if you select PwnageTool > Check for Updates... from the applications menu. Wherever you get PwnageTool please verify...
Update August 26th 2008: Dev Team has released the updated version 2.0.3.1 of PwnageTool which solves all the below issues. The remarks made in this post with respect to PwnageTool caused problems no longer apply. In case you've updated your jailbroken iPhone to Apple's firmware 2.0.2 recently and used Dev Teams PwnageTool 2.0.3 which has been released on Monday August 25th 2008 you might have encountered a couple of issues. Driven by your feedback this post summarizes in a bit more detail how to resolve these issues. Before you apply the fixes please note that the...

The world famous Dev Team has just released PwnageTool 2.0.3!
As always: To avoid version confusion: PwnageTool 2.0.3 supports Apple's official firmware version 2.0.2 (5c1) which as of this posting should be considered the current version of iPhone OS. Betas of version 2.1 have been made available to members of the iPhone...
I've been asked by some folks with a .NET background how I've jump started my iPhone development journey. Well, first of all, if you're new to programing for the Mac and have a .NET/Visual Studio background, be warned: EVERYTHING IS DIFFERENT. And with "different" I mean VERY different. :-) The same applies if you're background is a Java/Eclipse one. It took a while for me to get a hold of Apple's paradigms when it comes to application architecture and how things integrate into each others. One of my biggest difficulties was to really grasp how stuff you...
Quickly after version 2.0.1 came out, Apple on Monday evening released version 2.0.2 firmware for the iPhone. The 248.7 MB update is available only through iTunes and comes just two weeks after version 2.0.1
As always - and very unfortunate - Apple does not provide detailed release notes identifying individual issues that might have been fixed and only broadly says they've fixed some bugs.
Lately many users of the 3G version reported faulty UMTS connections and occasional connection drops with firmware 2.0.1 so this might be the reason for the very quick release of this update, though Apple did not confirm any...
I've been overwhelmed by the massive feedback and response I've received related to my iPhone 2.0.2 update post.
Google.com currently ranks this post as the 1st entry even before the official Dev Team page:
Thanks for all the positive feedback and linking back!
I'd like to encourage everybody to comment as opposed to sending me personal emails. This will contribute to everybody's knowledge. :-)
Also: I'm on the run. Attending a birthday party tonight (CET time zone). So I will be unable to answer your comments for the next couple of hours.
With the US folks waking up :-) most of...
(Note: This blog post gets constantly updated as I receive more and more feedback. Make sure you subscribe to the RSS feed to stay up-to-date!) Two hours ago the Dev Team has released the desperately awaited update Pwnage Tool 2.0.2. I highly recommend updating. While I'm not having any real numbers my personal perception is that after upgrading to 2.0.1 the overall responsiveness of my iPhone has almost doubled compared to the loss I've experienced after updating from 1.4 to 2.0. Also I've noticed a slightly weaker Wifi performance after going from 1.4 to 2.0. The known strong...
